In an enthralling encounter, Punjab Kings (PBKS) emerged victorious over Mumbai Indians (MI) by 13 runs in the 31st match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 at the Wankhede Stadium on Saturday (April 22). The joint owner of PBKS, Preity Zinta, was present during the game and was ecstatic with her team’s performance in the nail-biting last over.
After the match, Preity was seen engaging in a light-hearted conversation with former MI player Harbhajan Singh, where she recited a famous dialogue from the Bollywood movie ‘Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge’, to which Harbhajan responded with a witty comeback. The amusing video was shared by the veteran spinner on his official Instagram account.
PBKS, after being put in to bat first, set a challenging target of 214/8 in their allotted 20 overs, thanks to Sam Curran’s blazing 55 off 29 deliveries and Harpreet Singh Bhatia’s excellent knock of 41 off 28 balls. MI’s Cameron Green and Piyush Chawla were the pick of the bowlers, picking up two wickets each.
In response, MI started well, but lost Ishan Kishan early. However, the partnership between Green and Suryakumar Yadav kept MI in the game. Despite Green’s magnificent 67 off 43 balls and Yadav’s quickfire 57, the rest of MI’s batters failed to chase down the target, and they eventually fell short at 201/6 in their 20 overs.
Arshdeep Singh was the standout performer for PBKS with the ball, finishing with figures of 4/29 in his quota of four overs. Curran was awarded the ‘Player of the Match’ for his outstanding all-round performance.
